Simple DIY Changes to Rejuvenate Any Bathroom

Thanks to the lockdowns, many of us have spent days inside. We’ve been taking stock of our spaces and giving our homes a makeover.

One area that tends to be overlooked, when it comes to renovating, is the bathroom.

Whether you’re rushing to get ready in the morning, trying to wrangle the kids into the bath, or snatching a few moments alone for your skincare – the bathroom can leave a lot to be desired. However, with all the tiles, hardware, and tapware to choose from – bathroom remodeling can be an intimidating space to risk a DIY disaster. Luckily with a little creativity, it only takes a few small changes to make a major difference. No costly tradespeople or intimidating tools are required.

Update Your Bathroom Hardware

The first task is to update your fittings. Outdated fittings can bring down your bathroom space.

For a quick change, try replacing:

  • toilet roll holders
  • towel rails
  • tapware

By simply swapping the hardware out with clean new fittings, your bathroom will be given a new lease of life.

Just heed the number one top tip from experts: when you’re installing new fittings, make sure your towel rails and toilet roll holders are at the right height. You should be able to grab your towels from the shower and easily reach the toilet paper when you’re sitting down on the toilet.

Add Storage to Your Bathroom

Next, add more storage. Storage adds more usability to a home and is the primary consideration in a home appraisal.

Is your bathroom cluttered with bottles of product, and makeup? It’s time to use the space more effectively. There’s nothing like clear counters to freshen up a bathroom.

Install simple stylish shelving. New shelves can be used to store jars of makeup brushes, face flannels, cotton balls, and any other bathroom accessories.

How about your shower? Can a rack or shower shelving help organize shampoos, conditioners, and razors? There’s nothing like knocking over bottles precariously perched on the sides of a bathtub.

Spruce Up Your Bathroom

Turn shelves into an aesthetically pleasing environment.  Add some:

  • Candles
  • Boutique soaps
  • Diffusers
  • Aromatherapy
  • Artwork
  • Accent Mirror

Repaint Your Bathroom

Do you want to get a little more ambitious? Repaint your bathroom to add a splash of color. Like a new haircut, there’s nothing like a new color to rejuvenate a space.

Now relax, turn on some soothing music, apply a mask, and slip into a hot bath. Enjoy taking some time out for yourself in your newly renewed bathroom.
